If you have nothing else to read.. Utter random recapitulation of the utter crap...

As What in the world has it all come down to? A guy and a gal hopping to some molested (or re-mastered as they like to call it) classical tune, showing all their teeth in utter, uncontrollable, inexplicable euphoria? If not anything else, I just wonder how the BUNNY can these people keep from shooting themselves for doing these things on popular public television? A dude and a chick running round and round a tree after one another? Some ripped off, soulless melody fed to someone with a notable cleavage who's made to jump around and puke it out with all their teeth hanging out- Not a single savior on the horizon.

The word "music" has lost all its color and meaning. Never has the Pakistan music industry flourished into one where bands were an ideology (with the exception of Junoon), no high flying eccentric maestros like Led Zeppelin- No mentally retarded, guitar bashing, grunge cult like Nirvana- No shirtless, hairy lightning bolts of energy like Soundgarden. What do we have left with us? A handful of classical musicians, dying away and taking their art to the grave with them. The only shred of classical music we have left in the mainstream: bands like Raga Boys or Rhythm X who believe in fusing diverse genres of music to meld and a form a piece of art which is so good that it shouldn't be played around, but dried in the sun as shit cakes and set on fire for fuel. The only band actually pulling it off is, of course, Fuzon itself. The whole band clicks. The elements that they bring to the group add up. It all makes sense. Where I know I'll be beaten up for this, but I have my reservations about the Mekal Hassan Band as well. Where are, undoubtedly, as technically sound as sound itself, but their music does not seem to flow. Or that's how I feel. A good enough example would be "Jhok Ranjhan Di". Where the music is complete in itself, and the vocals and music are technically in scale and coherent and all, yet the feel is lost.

But despite that, I respect the band for standing, in music and in personality, to something of a cause; seeming elevated and professional, as they are, despite another fact that I hate Mr. Hassan for sheer arrogance. But still. Good show…

Those who chose to fulfill this need of the hour eventually settled down with the idea that "rock is not the culture for Pakistan." Whereas others sit on television and say: "Aap acha music suna karain. Hamain bhi suna karain." What the fuck? That's fucking contradictory you dumbass!

So if rock is not the culture for Pakistan, and crack isn't as widely accessible so as to facilitate hip-hop, and if we all hate rappers as much as we do and classical is going down and out, and we feel so cozy and comfy under General/CEO/President Mascara's democracy (Long live the king!) that no one feels revolutionary either (Sex Pistols), then what is?
