Interview with Streben

Why has it taken so long for Streben to launch its album? What have been your activities after the release of "Janay Aur"?
Atif: Well to keep the records straight, we still have not released our album. But this time around we have finished recording and it is in its post production phase. All of us are either working or in college and it's not easy especially in this part of the world to have both the work life and your music life to go in tandem. We have tried our best and have come up with some really good stuff. After "Jaanay Aur" we wrote a lot of new stuff and well the results will be there for everyone to hear in not more than a couple of months. Our patience will pay off and we believe in it strongly.
Your performance Streben in Desi Beats, 2007 is being considered one of your best and was the band's break through, how did you all feel about it?
Tabreiz: It was a great show. We got to play with some of the best around. It was great watching and learning from a lot of the bands out there. It was a fantastic experience.
Everyone is looking forward to Dubai Rock 2008 this Thursday. Is the band ready to rock the crowd again?
Naveen: We have been practicing and usually when we practice it is to rock the crowd. (laughs)
Where do you jam and where do you record your songs? (For as all the professional studios in Dubai are quiet expensive)
Naveen: They are and like Atif said, it is not easy in this part of the world although it is changing quite rapidly. We have our own little setup and we like to call that our studio. That's where we jam and record.
The improvement in vocals, sound and recording quality of your content is apparent. What are your feelings about it?
Aamir: Yes it is a completely new package. We are really excited about it and can't wait for this record to see the light of day.
How often does the band practice and jam? And when do you record your music?
Atif: Not often. Our recording is over and jamming usually happens when all four of us are free from our professional lives and college lives. It does happen though. (Laughs)
Streben, in my opinion, is a promising band but lacks in exposure because of a flawed market presence and marketing strategy. Are you doing anything about it?
Tabreiz: All we can say is there is a time and place for everything and we know that it's right around the corner. Everything is falling into place now and all of us are really looking forward to having the kind of recognition that has probably evaded us so far. For information sake, we will be releasing our next video soon. Fingers crossed.
What are your future plans?
Naveen: A Video very soon.
Atif: And our album. We do not have dates yet. But keep your ears tuned and your eyes open. We will be out there soon.
Has the band signed contracts with any record labels? Where is the band planning on releasing their album?
Atif: We are in the finishing stages right now and we will let everyone know once everything is ready to come out in the open and also you can get all the latest on the band, as it happens on our website which will be launched in a couple of days. The site is www.strebenonline.com
What should I expectations be from Streben?
Atif: Some good and honest music. We have all worked really hard and I hope everybody understands the work we put in from the music they hear. We would like to speak to everyone through our music and we hope it comes across like how we really meant it to.

Aamir: A lot of guitars, a lot of drums, keyboards and vocals and a lot of melody basically lots of good Kick the Backside stuff.

Thank you for your time, guys.
